Laboratory Notebook: Mail from Cal [Calvin Harvey], 1989 - 1992

 File — Box 06: Series CWG/1, Folder: 01-02
Identifier: CWG_01_022
Scope and Contents Much of the notebook is an email and letter exchange between Harley and Greider. Begins with good news, as the ribosomel RNA probe that she used seemed to have worked on the blots but not the gels. There is some bad news however, such as shattered tubes, and samples of DNA that have been used up. Grieder gave suggestions on how to run the remaining samples. Harley’s response was that Harley was analyzing telomere activity in the brain, specifically those with alzhiemers. The deeper the...

Laboratory Notebook: Telomere Lengths Experiments, Mammals 1-11, 1989

 File — Box 07: Series CWG/1; Series CWG/2, Folder: 01-02
Identifier: CWG_01_026
Scope and Contents The notebook begins with a letter from Harley regarding DNA samples and a Southern blot test. Harley directed Greider on how to work with DNA that was unusable and how to create a better southern blot test. There was another letter which detailed telomere length assays using human fibroblasts. In another letter Stillman was responding to Harley stating that Harley belived that telomeres get shorter in somatic cell studies because the telomerase enzyme is inactive. Telomeres have been found...
